Our approach

The staircase was rebuilt and re-clad in oak with a hand-sawn balustrade, its treads shaped to soften the turn of the stair. In the study we built floor-to-ceiling joinery with concealed lighting, a desk that cantilevers from the wall, and drawers cut to hold the owner's instruments. Linenfold panelling lines the hallway, its carved detail echoing the mouldings of the period without imitating them.

The result

The result is a house that feels quieter than its footprint - every surface accounted for, nothing added that does not earn its place. The joinery, the stair and the panelling were all made in our workshop and installed by our own team.
